Vegan chocolate syrup is so easy and quick to make. It’s not health food, but it’s better tasting and healthier than store-bought. Less expensive, too!
Hershey’s chocolate syrup is vegan but is made mainly of high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup, which are the first two ingredients.
This vegan chocolate syrup recipe has only a few ingredients. Maple syrup and cocoa powder make up the bulk of it with a little plant-based milk and vanilla. If you don’t have vanilla, you can also use something very similar to it, like caramel extract or any of its substitutes. Just make sure to whisk it well so any lumps are smoothed out. Simple as that. Add a little vanilla if you want, but if you don’t have any it’s still awesome without it.
It tastes great over ice cream and just about anything else that goes with chocolate. We had it over chocolate n’ice cream and then a little drizzled on some bananas and peanut butter.
We went to a fantastic brunch today at Frog Holler, a local organic farm. It was just beautiful, even if a little cloudy. It’s 125 rolling and wooded acres, some of it devoted to organic farming. Look how pretty!
I had salad with fresh, edible flowers and vegan eggs made from mung beans. Lovely people and lovely food.
The sorrel rhubarb mint tea was fantastic.
These were on each table. I want a set! How cute 🙂
OK, back to the recipe. When we got home, we were still feeling nibbly and hadn’t had any chocolate. So this chocolate syrup really hit the spot.
