The heat index was 110 today. I made a bunch of different flavors of n’ice cream. Those two things went together very, very well.
“N’Ice Cream,” in case you haven’t discovered this delectable treat, is the super easy vegan, plant based ice cream alternative that takes all of 3 minutes to make and can be flavored any way you like. It’s basically just ripe bananas that have been frozen and add whatever you like.
I got a new computer this weekend. I’m trying to make friends with it. I tend to hang on to things like computers and shoes and am less happy than I should be to get new. So I’ve not fallen in love yet with this younger, more attractive version. But it did inspire me to play around and experiment. That’s why this post is mostly images with the recipes in them.
So n’ice cream will come out like loose soft serve ice cream but I’ve found that ice cubes makes it a little stiffer and maybe even more creamy. The basic recipe is 1 banana, frozen, 1/2 cup plant milk, and 6 ice cubes. If you like thicker n’ice cream, use a little less milk. Do you want a smoothie or shake? The use a bit more milk. Need more protein? Add a chunk of tofu. It’s not rocket surgery. It’s a bunch of sweet stuff mashed together. It’s delicious just about any way you do it.
Speaking of sweet stuff. I have a sweet tooth as big as my whole head. Which is pretty big. I add stevia to nearly every batch of n’ice cream and ever smoothie I make for myself. You may not be that fond of the super sweet. If you are, you can add a bit of stevia or maple syrup to taste.
This was the surprise favorite. Turmeric can be a little bitter, but seemed to lose its edge when it was cold. I love it paired with orange, too.
Someone gave me a jar of dragonfruit powder. I didn’t really like how it smelled and it sat in my kitchen for a long time. But when I added it to this it was amazingly good. The color is just stunning.
This was also a surprise hit for me. I thought the matcha would be more stringent. It was just creamy, sweet, green tea goodness.
I love cardamom. It’s so unique. There’s not much that is similar to is. The blueberries and lemon together with it are just delicious.
So I’m a chocoholic. That is was my favorite is no surprise. Blend everything but the chocolate chunks and cherries and then add those to the top or stir in.
