Seasoned Sweet Potato Shoestring Fries with Cherry Lime Ketchup

Seasoned Sweet Potato Shoestring Fries are so easy to make in an air fryer! Cherry Lime Ketchup adds a perfect dash of extra flavor! I’ve always loved sweet potato fries but have always sort of failed at making them at home. My new air fryer makes fries like you find in a restaurant and I love it. They’re crunchy on the outside and soft and done on the inside. Cherry Lime Ketchup is super simple to make and adds a slightly unique flavor twist. These are done in about 20 minutes, too, depending on how long it takes you to cut up the sweet potatoes!

Seasoned Sweet Potato Shoestring Fries are Quick to Make!

These are so quick to make. The hardest part, for me anyway, is cutting up the raw sweet potatoes. I’ve always found them just a little difficult to cut because they can be pretty firm. But really, with a decent knife and keeping your fingers out of harm’s way, it’s no problem at all.

Sweet and delicious!

Start with Raw Sweet Potatoes!

Just start with a few peeled sweet potatoes and cut them into about 1/4″ thick fries … or thinner if you like them that way. I was going for just barely thin enough to be shoestringy.

Cut the sweet potatoes into 1/4″ or smaller strips.

For Perfectly Seasoned Sweet Potato Shoestring Fries  Add a Little or a Lot of Spice

These are actually really tasty on their own with not much more than a dash of salt and maybe a spritz of oil. But I added some onion powder, garlic powder, Lowrey’s Seasoned Salt, paprika, and just a dash of cinnamon along with sea salt and some cracked black pepper.

Spices and an optional spritz of oil!

A spritz of oil is optional here, although it does help the spices stick. Just stir the fries so the spices and any oil are evenly distributed and then toss them in the air fryer. Add a few sprinkles of additional spices here, if you like. I used three sweet potatoes so I had to separate these into two batches. The important part is to not layer them too thickly so they can heat through evenly. I have an air fryer that doesn’t need to shaken halfway through, but yours might be different.

Once in the air fryer, sprinkle on some additional spices, if needed!

That’s it. Just set the air fryer to 400 degrees F for about 12 minutes, or until they’re browned and slightly crispy on the outside. Then make the flavored ketchup. I wanted something kind of sweet and just slightly different from regular ketchup. This only took a minute to stir together. Pause and shake according to your air fryer’s recommendations!

Cherry Lime Flavored Ketchup is Delicious!

Flavored Ketchup for Sweet Potato Shoestring Fries made with Cherry Jam

This was really tasty and easy to make in just a minute or so. Simply mix together a couple of tablespoons of cherry jam or preserves, a couple of tablespoons of ketchup, and a squirt of lime. I also added just a little balsamic vinegar for a little more depth of flavor. That’s it. So simple. If you don’t have or can’t find cherry jam, just use what you have. Mixing in any favorite jam here would be delicious.
