This Pineapple Green Smoothie is vegan and raw food. It’s so simple to make and totally delicious. Uses commonly found ingredients.

This raw and healthy pineapple party in your mouth is super simple and perfect for spring. Hawaiian pineapple season is April and May, even though they’re available year round. Price and quality will be the best over the next few months,

Oh, and to make this extra thick and frosty, cube and freeze pineapple and any subsequent pineapple juice in ice cube trays. Store frozen cubes in plastic bags for ultra easy prep.

The pineapple in this recipe is excellent for digestion. Ever feel a little sluggish in that regard? Just have some fresh pineapple, which is rich in the enzyme bromelain which helps break down proteins.

Bromelain is also a potent anti-inflammatory and can help reduce sinus swelling and irritation, as well as other discomforts caused by inflammation.

I used a mix of greens here. Kale, spinach, and a bit of romaine. Use your favorite greens or what you have on hand. They’re ALL good.

All greens are full of vitamin K, which is excellent for bone health and also strengthens blood vessels.

Chlorophyll is the pigment that makes leafy vegetables so beautifully green. It develops when sunlight hits the leaves and is involved in photosynthesis … which basically turns the sun’s energy into yummy plant foods for us. Chlorophyll is also great for the skin and improves body odor. So does pineapple.

Bananas add a lot of sweetness and make this smoothie nice and creamy.

This is so quick to throw together. It makes a fast and easy breakfast or a snack any time of day.

Speaking of pineapple …

It’s gone now … but this really cool little building was one of my favorite local landmarks and I looked forward to seeing it every time I biked our local trail, which went right past it.
