This orange beet smoothie bowl reminded me of a recent cotton candy and creamsicle hued sunrise that was stunningly bright pink and vivid orange. I’d been experimenting with dragon fruit powder, aka pitaya, after seeing some really vibrant smoothie pics on Instagram (follow Planted365 here!) but found that beets gave just as lovely a magenta color.
It has everything. Lots of carbs to get fueled for the day, hemp hearts for protein, nitrates from the beets for higher nitric oxide, and Vitamins A and C. Plus, it tastes fantastic! It’s also quick and easy to make! This Chocolate Nut Butter Smoothie would make a gorgeous bowl, too.

- 1 cup coconut milk
- 2 large frozen bananas
- 1 orange, peeled and sectioned
- 1 cup orange juice
- 10 ice cubes
- 3 tablespoons hemp hearts
- 3 tablespoons dried cranberries
- 1 orange, sliced
Instructions
-
In a high speed blender, process the beet, 1 frozen banana, 1 cup coconut milk, and 5 ice cubes until smooth and creamy, like soft serve ice cream.

Divide and place into two bowls.
-
Process the 1 orange, 1 banana, orange juice, and 5 ice cubes until smooth and creamy.
-
Decide how distinctly divided you want your bowls. These are beautiful just loosely swirled. together But if you want a sharp division between the two colors, use a spatula to hold the beet smoothie over on the one half of the bowl and pour the divided orange smoothie mix in the other side.
-
Add a center sprinkle of hemp hearts and dried cranberries, and tuck in a few orange slices that have been cut in half.
