Brussels sprouts and radishes are usually available year-round, but right now the fresh versions are plentiful and in season. This usually also means they’re a little less expensive than usual. This dish uses them to sweet perfection.
Brussels Sprouts Are Tasty and Healthy!
Yeah, they look just like miniature cabbages! That’s basically what they are. They’re in the cruciferous family, just like cabbage, and also kale, broccoli, and cauliflower. These cousins of kale aren’t just healthy with lots of Vitamin K, they’re delicious, kind of sturdy, and strongly flavored.
Radishes Are Sweet When Cooked!
Radishes lose their peppery bite when cooked. They become tender, sweet, and mildly flavored.
SIMPLE Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Radishes
This recipe could hardly be simpler, too. Just toss the trimmed Brussels sprouts and radishes, and optional onion, with some maple syrup and just a tiny splash of balsamic vinegar. Salt and pepper, maybe a bit of crushed red pepper flakes, and … yum.
Maple Syrup Adds LOTS of Flavor!
