Mmm, chocolate raspberry smoothie … I’ll be short and sweet. This is delicious. It’s also super healthy and beautiful … and so, so easy. I’ve used cacao nibs because I had a bag sitting around. But use chocolate chips or shavings, or just omit. It’s still chocolatey raspberry goodness and makes a fast and fantastic breakfast or snack.
This is deliciously creamy, but also chock full of plant based nutrition.
This uses a banana for sweetness … which is enough for some. If it’s not, just add a little stevia or maple syrup.
According to Oregon State University researchers, the leaves and berries of the raspberry plant are full of antioxidants and vitamins and can help prevent cancer.
“Anthocyanins are also prevalent in red raspberries, working as antioxidants that protect against heart disease and age-related mental decline. What is interesting to note is the superior efficacy of eating red raspberries as opposed to taking the individual phytochemicals in the form of dietary supplements. Though we do not yet fully comprehend why this is so, it is clear the nutraceutical whole is greater than the sum of its parts.“
Other research, including from Harvard, has found
“… cocoa consumption is associated with decreased blood pressure, improved blood vessel health, and improvement in cholesterol levels, among other benefits.”
Cacao nibs are nature’s chocolate chips. They’re the purest form of cacao and are simply crushed fermented cacao beans. They can be stimulating, so if you’ve never had them go easy at first.
