Chocolate Orange Truffles ~ Raw Vegan Recipe
Chocolate Orange Truffles may be the best dessert ever. These are so easy to make and they smell heavenly.
This is an updated version of a previous post and I SO need to make these. Lately, I’ve been using raw cocoa butter with some orange essential oil in it as an all over, natural moisturizer. It’s the same smell as these and the best ever. Ahhh … warm, chocolatey, orange.
This is making me feel nostalgic for art making tonight … something I’ve just gotten back to.
Lots of you will recognize Angela from Lost in Space, The Sound of Music, etc. What you may not know is she’s now an artist and she and Sarah create the most wonderful art books together. One of my favorites is, In This House: A Collection of Altered Art Imagery and Collage Techniques.
Sarah and Angela’s books are published by Quarry Books, which also published my book, Easy Affordable Raw. <— which you can get here!
How about a round of “It’s a small world, after all … ” Copies of Pasticcio Quartz !3 are still available HERE … I hear a Pasticcio 16 is in the works, as well.
Chocolate Orange Truffles
Delicious, no added sugar, chocolate and orange truffle or energy ball made with dates, nuts, and chocolate!
- 2 cups almonds
- 2 cups dates pitted and chopped
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
- pinch salt
- cocoa powder for rolling
In a food processor fitted with an “S” blade, process the almonds until finely ground. This takes about a minute.
Add in the pitted and chopped dates, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, orange extract, and just a pinch of salt.
Process again until the mixture begins to clump together.
Using a tablespoon, scoop out even sized balls, and roll between hands to shape.
For the final finish, roll each truffle lightly in cocoa powder.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Makes about 24 truffles.
